Fly Right This Holiday - Top tips to make travelling easy

11/18/2009

Kingston, November 18, 2009 — With the holiday season comes crowded airports, congested runways and anxious travellers. But Air Jamaica wants passengers to have the best flying experience, even during what is the busiest travel period of the year. Here are some tips that will ensure passengers maintain their holiday spirit and enjoy hassle-free travel.

Check In Online Before You Get to the Airport
Web check in at AirJamaica.com is a great way to save time at the airport. Complete the process online and print your boarding pass if you can. Then on arrival at the airport, passengers with bags to be checked should go directly to the special Web Check In line, while passengers with only a carry-on bag may proceed directly to the gate with their printed boarding pass.

Know the Baggage Regulations and Pack Wisely
Remember to pack wisely, as Air Jamaica’s new free baggage allowance for each Lovebird Economy passenger is one carry on, as well as one checked piece weighing no more than 50 pounds. A second checked piece attracts a charge of USD25 or the Jamaican dollar equivalent.  Lovebird Executive Class passengers are allowed three checked pieces at 50 pounds each and one carry on piece. Ship Ahead
Use Air Jamaica Cargo to efficiently and conveniently ship gifts and extra luggage before you travel. However, if you must travel with your gifts, make sure they are unwrapped, as airport security will check your luggage and this might lead to a delay if the doll for your niece looks like something else on the airport scanner.

Arrive Early At the Airport
Passengers should plan to arrive at least 2 ½ hours before the flight departure time. With many more passengers travelling at this time of the year, you will want to avoid the wait and the lines at the counter.

Check Your Travel Documents Now
When making your travel plans, check to ensure that your travel documents are valid. Once at the airport, your documents should be within reach for easy presentation as you go through security, immigration and customs.  If travelling as a family it may be prudent to ensure that one person has all the documents, which may make for easier tracking.
