CAPTAIN OMAR K. PARKINS
Appointed Air Jamaica Limited Board Director, October 18, 2007, a graduate of St. George’s College, Mr. Parkins joined the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) in 1982, where he received the Queen’s Commission in the rank of 2nd Lieutenant at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) in 1983. In 1984, he was posted to the JDF Air Wing.
Captain Parkins rose to the military rank of Captain, during which time he was chosen to do a stint as Aide-de-Camp to then Governor General, His Excellency Sir Florizel Glasspole.
Captain Parkins joined Air Jamaica in 1998 and was employed as a Second Officer, then First Officer and finally Captain.
During his nearly 20 years in the airline industry, Captain Parkins has been an active member on the Executive Council of the Jamaican Airline Pilots Association (JALPA), most recently completing a stint as its President between 2005 and 2007.
